Let's envisage a perfect day there, one without commitments, without a schedule. What would a day at Kirra Point look like, if it just unfolded, commencing at first light, sunrise on an endless ocean? As the surfers paddle out to seek the early swells, visitors and of course, residents can enjoy a coastal walk up to Kirra Hill Lookout, with its sweeping views of Coolangatta and Rainbow Bay to the South. Surfers Paradise at the Northern end. A quick dip is beckoning, the crystal-clear water patrolled by the local and much treasured Surf Lifesaving Club, Kirra Reef shimmering in the horizon. A morning coffee and breakfast follows, either takeaway, cup in hand, watching for migrating whales offshore, or in one of the sunny local cafes. Now is a perfect time to wander this boutique shopping hub, browsing for beautifully curated homewares, resort wear and lifestyle wares, or to stock up cupboards and picnic baskets from the array of gourmet fresh produce options, including fresh baked bread, charcuterie, cheeses and fine wines.

A late morning bike ride or surf may be in order, before a casual lunch of fish and chips at the Kirra Beach Hotel, in the sun-drenched beer garden, overlooking the deep blue breakers, with a chilled glass of wine or craft beer. The afternoon meanders on, with the swish of the tide. It’s the feeling of a summer holiday that never ends about one hour from Brisbane, even less from Byron, or a short plane ride to Gold coast airport for interstate travellers. The feel of a luxury vacation, on your doorstep, Kirra Point is a mere 5 minute taxi ride from the airport, which means visitors can be unpacked and dipping their toes in the ocean in the unhurried space of a morning. As the day ebbs, and the long horizon takes on a golden pink tone, the cocktail bar at Kirra Beach House beckons, as the mellow sound of lo fi music floats to the street. Order a glass of Champagne, or a sunset cocktail lazing in a cabana, scanning the coastline and watching the twinkling lights appear in the Surfers Paradise metropolis across the water. Dine on the terrace with friends, a delicious Mediterranean inspired menu and fresh local seafood, designed to be shared and lingered over. Or take the even more relaxed option downstairs at Kirra Beach Hotel, and enjoy the no-fuss feel of a friendly country pub. The Kirra lifestyle is about easy options, everything in walking distance, an opportunity to indulge in the simple pleasures of life.

Later, be soothed to sleep by the rhythm of the waves, silently filling the lagoons and rockpools, readying for another perfect Kirra day.
